Fairy Tail 100 Years Quest Chapter 71 and Eden's Zero Chapters 122 and 123 Review

 Written by Shiggins

Theme: A sexy transformation that's in the way.

Yes, today's theme is a difficult one to complain about but not impossible. Both Eden's Zero and Fairy Tail contain characters that transform into something the fans will surely enjoy getting a good look at, but are both done in scenes that aren't the ones I'd rather be focusing on! A subjective complaint, yes, but all of this is subjective. It's a review!!

Gray has discovered anime.

Fairy Tail

Mimi the Immovable stands strong, and Taurus charges forward to take her down but even with the help of Lucy in her Star Dress, he's overwhelmed with minimal effort from her. Using her own Spiritual Arts, every tree in the area is given a clean haircut by Mimi. And now we cut to Natsu and Gray (and Happy but meh) in the snow.

Their enemy, Hakune, interrupts their discussion about fighting her to create women out of snow that exists in their hearts. Gray gets a naked Juvia clinging to his arm, and Natsu finds himself swarmed by several female characters including Lucy, Erza, and Wendy... Ok, not a fan of that last one being there. Even Happy has two naked girls clinging to him, although they are cats... But then again, you might prefer that.

Her nudity makes her stronger! Just like me!

Using his flames (and a punch to Lucy that felt extremely unnecessary actually), Natsu makes his clones disappear, and Gray follows suit because the best Juvia is much crazier. Hakune sees her attempt failed, so she brings up a new transformation of her own to kick ass with. And speaking of ass-kickings, we finish our chapter with the return to Erza and Wendy's fight against Youko.

Youko uses Naruto-style movements to summon monster after monster that Erza must fight back against, but Youko summons out a mighty "yokai" made of smoke that is able to finish the job and both Erza and Wendy are knocked out.

Opinion: Go back to Mimi!

Okay, that's not fair. Hakune and Youko are both interesting as well. I'm just hopelessly obsessed with Mimi, but all three fights have something to appeal I'm sure. I just feel the most drawn towards the one with the muscular woman fighting a cow. However, if you are into the transforming ice woman or the Summoning no Jutsu kitty woman instead, I don't blame you. We're all friends here.

At this stage, I must say it's sad we don't know more about the Spiritual Arts yet. I know, it's only been two chapters but that's still four weeks of waiting at the very least! I GOTS TO KNOW... but I covered all my theories on it last time and I don't really have much else to say. Hakune can control snow, Mimi can use overwhelming strength, and Youko can summon creatures. I'm surprised she's not the one to fight Lucy now. It'd be like a Yu-Gi-Oh duel, but not as sexy.

Oh hey, I remember y-SHE'S WEARING THE THING!!
Yep... that's all I got to say right now. Will there be a surprising rescue for Erza and Wendy in the form of Faris and Touka? Will we meet Elentir-Erza soon? Find out next time.

Manga Rating: 3/5

Best Part: More of Mimi and the rest.

Worst Part: Still no idea how these Spiritual Arts differ from magic and curses.

Eden's Zero

Dr Muller is back and creepy as always, with him explaining how and why he's here at all. After being arrested for his crimes back in the day, he caused an explosion to escape the prison but damaged his body so much he needed to become a cyborg, and that has clearly made him even crazier. He was given a chance to obtain the entire planet as his test subjects in exchange for guarding Ziggy's satellite. Again, let's not even bother talking about how unlikely this reunion would be.

Angered by Weisz interfering with the reunion of Hermit, Muller shocks him and puts Hermit in restraints. Being placed in this position and his mocking words causes Hermit to break down in tears. To make things worse, Kleene's sensor is going off. We go back to the planet to see Shiki and Homura in front of the new Beast Squad, a fight about to break out until...

Aww... now I miss Elfman.

In one smash, the new Beast Squad are down! Victory and Creed now enter the show and Creed uses his own Ether Gear to shrink and trap the trio in small cages, saying they are unimpressive thugs who rank far below Poseidon Nero's "Oceans". And this is when Justice enters the scene, and upon discovering Shiki has the same ether as Ziggy, as well as being a friend of Elsie, he has Creed give Homura the cage treatment and causes a fight between him and Shiki.

Second chapter time! Justice is able to easily throw Shiki away, and the two argue over Justice's conviction over how much he and his government are allowed to do, and so Justice transforms into Not-Jellal! And not just in appearance, because Justice uses Meteor to zoom through the air, and then the power of monologuing to explain his Star Drain Ether Gear, and unleashes a Grand Chariot attack on Shiki.

The lack of subtlety here is perfect.
We return to the satellite where Hermit is still captive and Muller is about to be really nasty, before Weisz speaks up. Muller is confused as to who he is, recognising him as the famous robotics genius and realising he's here because of the Chronophage, and getting excited at the idea of having Weisz's brain right in front of him. Back to Shiki, somehow still alive and conscious, so Justice summons a spear to finish the job! And this is when Shiki is saved by Elsie, saying her crew will save Homura and she'll take down Justice.

Opinion: Not-Jellal vs Not-Erza!

I mentioned recently that I found it hilarious that Elsie was blatantly just Erza, complete with nude transformation and ass-kicking strength, but with an extra uncaring attitude towards the law. Basically, she's if Erza didn't give a shit. So you're obviously wondering if I, a known Jellal-disliker, feel the same way about Justice... Yes I do. Justice just being Jellal but with extra douchebaggery is not a problem for me, and it's a lot of fun. I would be complaining if this happened again however, so take a note of that for future reviews to see if I'm a hypocrite or not. Two is enough, especially since it's a duo we know want to touch butts. Let's just hope Justice isn't faking it. It would be much more interesting to see him actually go through growth and change rather than reveal he was okay all along.

Ah. A fellow artiste! With impeccable taste, I might add.
It's clear at this stage that Weisz and Hermit are in dire need of a Deus ex Machina, so let's just place our bets. I'm guessing Kleene since she's able to sense him (at least, I believe it's Muller, and not Justice. It's hard to say at this stage), but there are other possibilities. Weisz could get himself up and interfere with the building through his modications, or preferably, he convinces Hermit to stand strong and fight back. And hopefully it hurts a lot.

I do wish the chapters had focused more on Hermit's struggle than Shiki, because Hermit's has the extra weight behind it from an emotional point of view, as well as it all being related to the main obstacle this arc has had. Thankfully, the Justice section is very enjoyable but if I had to choose between them, it'd easily be Hermit's struggle. I want to see her resolve, but sadly we had to spend more time on other stuff first so it ended up being overtaken by other moments.

Manga Rating: 4/5

Best Part: Team Justice!

Worst Part: Not enough Hermit.

Apron and sci-fi helmet? She's my new hero.
