Fairy Tail 100 Years Quest Chapter 66 and Eden's Zero Chapters 112 and 113 Review

 Written by Shiggins

Theme: On their knees.

Looks like everyone is getting on their knees this week. Maybe Mashima-senpai is just a masochist or sadist? Well, to each their own. I'm an open-minded guy. And it's not like we've not seen worse from the guy. I'm just so surprised we got the connecting theme of "on their knees"... I think I'm going to see if I can make connecting themes a thing from now on.

Eden's Zero is officially good enough to have a chibi cover.

Fairy Tail

After a quick recap of the Edolas arc, which you shouldn't need because only TrueFans™ should be reading this and I am sooo superior when I say that, we see Lucy trying on E-Lucy's unique clothing style and learn that E-Lucy and E-Natsu had sex in the car. As Lucy blushes a bunch like we'd expect, we go to see Natsu and Gray meeting the kids, Nasha and Griege. And it looks like Griege likes Nasha, which is just... oh the cuteness.

Okay, I've decided. This arc should be about them.
Another scene with E-Wendy, who seems to be getting no personality outside of her personalitits, as well as E-Lucy not being too comfortable with Erza but accepting it anyway, and we move on to the capital to meet Mystogan in the castle. Here we're greeted to the new timeskip designs of Hughes, Coco, Byro and Sugarboy, who is very disappointing when compared to what he could have been. Come on! Coco looks great though.

I watched the Starry Sky arc! I know how ridiculous you can go with Sugarboy! This is a disappointment and an insult and a dishonour!
We're then greeted with the return of Mystogan, who has nice long hair now, and Erza Knightwalker, who seems to have used the Fusion Dance with Virgo to become a maid that really takes the submissive angle to new heights. Clearly, E-Erza has fallen for Mystogan over the past 9 years. We then skip ahead to them having explained the situation they're in, and Mystogan tells them about Elentir, another world they've never been to, and the Moon God Dragon Selene is the only dragon with the power to cross dimensions. And without Anima around anymore, she is their only chance to return.

FT Opinion: Where's E-Gajeel?

Yes, I know he's not canon and was never in the manga, but he can be now. Bring him here! BRING HIM TO ME! And bring his wedding ring to E-Levy. If you don't want to show me the child because Levy is pregnant right now and you want that to be your reveal, then fine but... Wait, are Gajeel and Levy married? I don't think they are. Gajeel, get on your knees, man! E-Erza is doing it!

Oh great. Now I miss Juvia. Damn you, masochist E-Erza!
I guessed that E-Erza's reveal would be comedic last time, and comedic it certainly is, if a bit too predictable and in line with everything we've seen of 100 Years Quest lately. I'm still laughing and enjoying myself, but I'm wondering how long Mashima-senpai's love for sado-masochism can keep me going.

Next up, we have Elentir! Between Earthland, Edolas, Gemini, Fairy Nail (surprised we got that referenced again!) and the future, we've certainly had our fair share of Lucys. Could we be about to get another?! Is this going to be like the Dragon Slayers, where our finale involves 7 Lucys all standing together? Actually, that'd be funny. Do that.

So we can assume the reason we're on Edolas is because of Selene then, since WW's power failed for some unknown reason and our heroes would be stuck on this world without her. Will Selene be our only enemy, or will Diabolos return yet again with their new guy Suzaku?

Manga Rating: 3.5/5

Best Part: Cute kids (who will hopefully join the arc probably).

Worst Part: Slow plot advancement.

Eden's Zero

The Eden's Zero is flying through space, following the lacrima with Mother's ether, but Weisz is getting pissed off over the addition of Laguna, another member of Drakken Joe's underlings. Laguna says he is only staying until he can find a place to live without fear of being chased for his past, and he leaves. We then get a brief reveal that the Demon King is considered the "King of Magimech", who connects both machine and ether, inspiring Shiki to like the title given to him more.

Is that bloody Max and bloody Warren?! Dear God, does Mashima think people like these characters? ....wait, do people actually like these characters?!

We then go back to the Skull Fairy crew, where Elsie is wondering if Ziggy met with Nero but doesn't care. This is when she gets an alarm going off that Justice is catching up to her, and she points out that her own crewmember, Jesse, has betrayed them and is secretly a spy. Jesse is shocked to realise she knew about this for a while, and that two other members of her crew had kept the information from reaching Justice this whole time. The other two members are Hyouga and Gouen.

Despite Elsie's best offer, Jesse refuses to join the crew and is released back to Justice's ship via pod. Even though they were betrayed, Elsie refuses to be cold to those who wish to join, inspired by her time on the Eden's Zero. Speaking of which, we get a fairly interesting scene between Kris, Laguna and Kleene involving food and growling at each other before the ship lands on the planet Foresta, renowned for it's cuisine and being absolutely covered in greenery. This is also where Xenolith, the founder of Gravity Ether Gear Tactics, once lived. And our chapter ends with a glimpse at three clear antagonists, who all work for Nero.

Smart lady, collected boss guy, psycho guy. Fairly easy to remember.
Anyway, the entire planet is covered in this forest and so the characters can't find a place to land the ship, and Rebecca can't even connect to the internet. So it's agreed to take a small ship to the surface instead with just one group, which is basically just the main characters, and explore. After some searching about, they come across a village where humans are literally on leashes and being walked around on all fours by robots.

A dispute breaks out when two robots start having a conversation over how to treat their human pets, resulting in the more abusive of the two destroying the other for showing any actual decency whatsoever, paranoid over going back to the "old world". The two humans make a run for it, and are surprisingly not chased, which feels ridiculous considering how this world seems.

Oooh I have strongly mixed feelings about this.
Anyway, the group hear a robot arriving and so the quartet pretend to be pets of Happy and Pino. When the robot guard tries to get too familiar with Rebecca, Shiki attacks and Weisz finishes it off. This is when we get a surprising return, as B-Cuber friend of Rebecca, Couchpo, appears and leads them to her home. And so prepare for lots of food-related jokes because she's fat ha ha ha.

Couchpo was originally planning to do restaurant reviews of Foresta, but became trapped when the robots all went mad a week ago. She tells them that Ziggy was the cause of this, hacking everything on the planet and causing an uprising. Our second chapter ends with the group being interrupted by a huge robot, and Shiki vowing to fight back, even though they are being controlled by Ziggy's hacking.

EZ Opinion: Planet of the Apes time!

Yes, we've entered a planet entirely devoted to a homage, but with the added bonus of it being a recent revolution brought up by Ziggy. Although considering the cover picture of Homura as a dog, maybe it's a sign that Mashima-senpai watched Family Guy's Road to the Multiverse episode... Either way, I'm wondering if we've actually got a happy ending to this arc. Eden's Zero has been enjoying taking the darker route every now and again, and we've already seen corpses in the street, people on all fours, robots killing other robots... I'd be shocked, and not a little pissed off, if this arc got something convenient and easy to make everything better. Unless we get that time-eating monster again, then maybe, but let's not hope for that to be our Deus ex Machina whenever we see a bad place.

Oh my god, I love you.
I'm wondering what this arc has to do with the overall plot. Yes, we have people who work for Poseidon Nero here, so perhaps this could be our official introduction to the character, but that could happen at any time and in any arc. Is this arc to be a sign of how Ziggy's revolution will be across the universe if he is not stopped? That's possible. It might seem strange that I'm asking this, but I suppose I'm just getting invested in the other stuff, involving Elsie and Justice, and I'm sad we're going to have it on pause again.

Hopefully the appearance of Couchpo and the attack from Ziggy will be a sign that Rebecca and Shiki are about to get some more time to shine. Yes, they're always fun but I'm ready for some character moments now! Homura is still great, so she's allowed to the same, for now, without complaint. Then again, maybe this could be the arc that officially makes Kris want to stick around? I'd like that a lot.

Manga Rating: 3.5/5

Best Part: Elsie's plot is getting better and better.

Worst Part: Couchpo's food jokes were boring before they began.

2021 is looking damn good! ...for anime, anyway.
