Fairy Tail 100 Years Quest Chapters 31 & 32 Review - Opposing Fairies & Star Dress Mix

Written by Shiggins

Skinship.

Friend against friend. Trio against trio. Trio against friend. It's all so chaotic and painful! I mean, not really. In fact, there's surprisingly little emotional drama and conflict, but I suppose that's to be expected from a group that regularly beat each other up for fun, isn't it? Or are we all expecting Cana to tear up at the end and quote the best Pokemon movie? "They weren't meant to fight. Not like this..."

They must pay the actress a lot to get her in photos like these all the time.
Our review begins with Gajeel and Natsu facing off, with lots of fire, iron swords and a headbutt challenge that admittedly got a snicker out of me. The fight gets so serious that the two bring out their back-up powers too, Gajeel's shadows and Natsu's lightning. To Happy's shock, he's forced to fight Pantherlily, but a quick distraction by Natsu covered in Lily's fear causes Happy to cheat a win. What a bastard!

I want you all to realise this; Gajeel 100% flashed Natsu during this move.
Back to Lucy, Leo and Virgo as they are about to fight the Strauss Siblings, and Virgo is easily, and gleefully, defeated by Mirajane. Leo and Elfman go against each other, while Lucy is forced to fight her fanservice-partner Lisanna. As Lisanna seems to get the upper hand, Lucy reveals her trump card; The Star Dress! However, in a surprising turnaround, she's fused the Leo and Virgo ones together to create a regal-butterfly-maid-thing. It's much cooler than it sounds.

"My fanservice could beat up your fanservice!"
So now the battle is set to heat up, and Lisanna activates her new Naruto-Soul-Form (no idea how she got that but it's cool, so I'll give it a pass). With the amazing power of the Leo-Virgo dress, Lucy unleashes a super-attack that knocks out Lisanna, but the other two remain standing strong, and pissed off.

....She missed.
Touka is relaxing on a throne blah-blah-ing, Wendy is on her way to one of the orbs, and Erza has arrived at another orb after defeating Jet and Droy. She is to face off against Jellal, in what will no doubt be an angst-filled drama fest where Jellal monologues about how much of a bad past he has and then OR he'll strip near-naked. That works too.

We end our summary by seeing Gray fighting Freed, Bickslow and Evergreen in a barefoot match of death (I wish they didn't bring feet to my attention, yuck...) and Freed reveals he used his charms to remove ice magic from the field. Which means Gray is going to rely on his Devil Slayer magic instead. Yes, the power we keep forgetting he has.

I really need to rewatch Kill la Kill soon...
Opinion: YOU get to strip, and YOU get to strip and YOU...

Yes, once again, we get a reminder that Fairy Tail loves to show off it's bodies. Gray is obvious, Erza is obvious, but now everyone is showing off for the foot fetishists out there (not judging you, don't worry) and having a fun time of it in the process. Hell, I'm not even exaggerating when I say that having a mental breakdown and actually stripping for an embrace might be my favourite Jellal moment ever. What a wonderful surprise.

This is it... I've found it. The Jellal I always needed!
Once Gray uses his Devil Slayer Magic to take out the trio, will he be fighting Laxus next? That'd be a fun treat, even though I'm starting to realise I don't care about his non-ice powers. Sure, it's stronger but it's not exactly a visually interesting look for him, especially when ice usually makes him create so many items and objects. Still though, there's always room for surprise.

The biggest surprise, besides Jellal showing off his bulge, was Lucy's new Star Dress. A surprisingly simple idea that I never even considered. A quick one-use attack with plenty of visual sweetness and magic potential. I personally want to see something fuse with that Taurus armour she wore before. It was dynamite! Also, bring back Pisces. I'm a Pisces. Pisces is best-ces.

Manga Rating:

31: 3.5/5

32: 4/5

Best Part; Jellal might be breaking apart. And I can live with that.

Worst Part: Is Gray set for an easy win?

She's high as feck.
