Bungou Stray Dogs Anime Review

Bungou Stray Dogs Anime Review
Written by: ClayDragon

Books are awesome. Countless series all across the world are based off of books, from shows like Game of Thrones and Sherlock to anime such as Bakemonogatari and Haruhi Suzumiya. But it’s incredibly rare for any work to actually focus on the authors of such stories. Of course, some might find the idea of an entire series showing how a book is written to be comparable to one of the circles of hell, so how do you inform people of authors and their works without boring the audience to tears? Answer: you give the authors superpowers based on their books and have them fight each other.

Fairy Tail Chapters 512, 513, 514 & 515 Review - Deluxe Edition

Written by Shiggins

Heeeeere's Seanny!

Yes I'm back! I was running into quite a few problems at home and at work, so a lot of my free time was taken away from me but that bastard known as life. However, I am back to continue my reviews and hopefully I won't be buggering off again any time soon. So thanks for all the fanmail I didn't get, but I'm not bitter or anything... whatever... No seriously, I love that people keep reading my work. It's honestly the main reason I'm back here... *throat clear to stop myself getting sappy* Back to the reviews!

And I return with... Something horrific that makes me wonder if Mashima went just a bit too far.

Izana - Part 1 (Chapters 1, 2, 3)

Written by: Pomelote

Prologue

The air is hot, like the seasons have been reversed. Only my feet are cold and damp, from the muddy water that soaked into my tabi while I walked. The flames make a ferocious crackling, and blaze like they're going to make the night's darkness disappear. The dry wooden walls and posts of the building crumble away into chunks of black charcoal.

Ah, it's so red. So red. So red.

The world has never been so beautiful.

For a moment, the world of scorched grey had colour.

Heaven and earth reversed - and the living became the dead, the dead became the living.

And now, I was born.

At the end of a long death, I finally came into this world.

It was like the plants, at the end of their seclusion in winter, budding and welcoming the spring; it was like part of the natural order.

My thin clothes cling to my skin with sweat, but even that sensation makes me feel alive.

Suddenly remembering, I wipe my lips with my fingers. Nothing comes away. It seems that the crimson dye was melted away by sweat. But even now, I'm sure my lips are red. From elation, I'm flushing, like a rose. Like the flames. Now, I am beautiful.

Thoughts on Danganronpa 3 Compilation - Part 1

Written by Shiggins

Future.

Despair.

Hope.

The three stages of Danganronpa's anime of 2016, in which the story of Makato Naegi and his companions was finally wrapped up. Storylines are resolved, characters make shocking returns, and the dub of Monokuma just gets worse and worse. Over the course of these three segments, you find yourself questioning a lot about what you saw from the first two games of the series, and the final result is a mixed bag that is worth talking about. And since we've got Danganronpa V3 coming soon, this feels like a good time to do just that. Talk.

So many deaths. So little time.

Naruto, the Shitty Dad: A Boruto Character Analysis

Written by: Micha

It’s been two years after Naruto ended, and two years since I have mentioned Naruto to any on here. You could say I don’t handle grief so well, for someone who has repeatedly killed the spirits of Hinata fans and Sasuke fans for a while. So after two years, I woke up from my Naruto-coma to ask myself something that has been plaguing the backburner of my mind all this time: why is Naruto being a little bitch?

Boruto, chill. Kishi never tweets me back either.
Naruto Uzumaki never made it to my top three favorite characters, but he was always someone I thought was too good for bashing. And trust me, I have bashed a lot of characters. And I never thought I’d ever have to question why, an orphan who yearned to be a part of a family he even adopted this guy as his brother, would ever deny love and attention to his own biological son.

Naruto has been neglectful to the point he had Boruto running to Sasuke for comfort. Fricken Sasuke. And this Uchiha is a man so emotionally damaged to the point he probably said, “Hn” after the priest asked if he’d accept Sakura as his bride.

So why is Naruto doing this? Let me dive deep into his psyche and fish out the psychological theories.

Fairy Tail Chapter 511 Review - Hunger Hell

Written by Shiggins

I want Larcade's powers.

Out of every power in this series we've seen so far, I think I want Larcade's the most. I'll win every Pleasure-Off I have against my friends, I'll always have an excuse to pay less than others at dinners because I'll be making them eat more, and I can sleep for as long as I want so I don't have to deal with the nastiness of the world. Admit it, I made you want to be Larcade. I made you desire it!

And I now realise Sting needs a new design, because in pictures like this he ends up looking exactly like Natsu.

Fairy Tail Chapter 510 Review - Natsu's Heart

Written by Shiggins

We need a Slayer Babies spinoff.

I'm serious. I will review the shit out of an adorable chibi version of Fairy Tail that focuses on the young Dragon Slayers, because that would be too damn adorable to ignore. My list of spinoffs that I want Mashima-senpai to make is increasing, with Council Levy still being number 1, but you have to consider this at some point, sir. Please! Bring on the cute!

I've been saying that since I first started this series!

The Best Naruto Characters (As Voted by Fans)

Written by Shiggins

It's been two years since our beloved franchise ended...

So to celebrate the series that got so many of us into anime and manga in the first place, and helped create the blog you're on right now, I created a poll and asked for viewers to vote for their favourite characters. Much like the past two poll articles, which involved the women and penises of Fairy Tail, this does not follow my own opinion but rather the opinion of you and your fellow dorks. So what I'm going to do is explain why some, including myself, like these characters and then you, the reader, can tell me if I'm wrong. See you in the comments!

Fairy Tail Chapter 509 Review - Kagura vs Larcade

Written by Shiggins

Stop trying to tell me they had sex!

I know it's a beautiful image of Mavis and Zeref as a lovely couple together, never ageing. An immortal duo that would live forever, as if they were members of the surprisingly enjoyable manga series UQ Holder, but it doesn't make sense! I am telling you that it doesn't make sense. AND WHY AREN'T WE FOCUSING ON IRENE?!

Why do you instantly believe the shiny man without any proof? I mean, he's telling the truth but... my point still stands.

Top 10 Horror Anime and Manga

Written by: Pomelote

Did you hear that? Be- behind you, I thought I heard someth-

You know what, never mind, it's probably nothing...

Somewhat strangely, considering the massive J-Horror boom of the 2000s and Japan's rich horror tradition, “horror” is rarely a genre that comes to mind when people think about anime and manga. The reason for that isn't entirely clear, but Halloween 2016 has just passed us by (hopefully you've just had a happy one), and in the spirit of the season, we've prepared this little Top 10 article with some of our favourite examples of horror.

Warning: this article contains some graphic imagery, and worse yet, potential SPOILERS for all works mentioned here. Proceed at your own risk!🎃

Top 10 Abridged Anime Characters

Written by: The Inquisitor

About 2-4 months ago, an event occurred that had a greater impact on my life than my High School graduation, the impact was so great that it actually managed to make me leave my comfort zone to write this list. The event: Shiggins introduced me to abridged anime. Never had I been happier to have that man as a friend.

For the poor ignorant souls that have yet to experience the greatness that is abridging, I left links to the first episode of every series that I mention in this list.

For those of you who don’t know, abridged anime are comedic fan-dubs. These fan-dubs have been made from  various different series' and by various people, from the solo genius PurpleEyesWTF, to the legendary Team Four Star. From the minds of these comedy gods came many hilarious series' and a plethora of memorable characters.

And it all started with him. The Father of Abridging: LittleKuriboh.

Fairy Tail Chapter 508 Review - Pleasure and Agony

Written by Shiggins

Who here loves a good orgasm?

Yes, if you ever wanted to know about Fairy Tail's history with sex, then look no further than this chapter. What started out as a disappointing distraction to the central conflict soon became a hilarious segment that had everyone asking the exact same question: So who did "_______" fuck?!

Just a taste of what you're in for this week.

Fairy Tail Chapter 507 Review - Voice

Written by Shiggins

Well, that's an odd way to twist my expectations.

The running theme of this chapter was that they did everything I expected them to do, but they did it in a way I did not expect. You can see that as both a good and bad thing, but I'm choosing to see the positives, for the most part. And if you see it from my point of view, this chapter suddenly becomes really good.

"Think"? Erza, you're giving this fight too much credit if you believe actual the two of them are usual actual thought and reason here.

Fairy Tail Chapter 506 Review - Broken Bonds

Written by Shiggins

And so the tragedy continues.

After last week's chapter, fans were really curious to see where this one would go. By the look of things, we should be safe. I'd personally have preferred someone like Wendy to be there and confirm he can't be healed, but that's just my paranoia setting in. People did find something to complain about though, and while I was mad at first, common sense settled in and I realised it's not as bad as you might you think.

I regret asking to see tears.... This is sad now. (Although don't you DARE reverse this!)

Fairy Tail Chapters 504 & 505 Review - Crack & Trump Card

Written by Shiggins

The general consensus is that Gray is dumb. Do I agree?

Well at any rate, it looks like we're finally beginning the battle we've been longing for since we first heard about E.N.D and Gray's battle with Silver. Natsu is on fire but not in a good way for once, and Gray is just looking like he's had a bad day, he's taking one down, and he sings a sad song just to turn it around...

Special credit to "Yonkouprod" for this early translation.

Top 10 LGBT Characters

Written by Shiggins

Here's an interesting one!

Mainstream media usually likes to play it safe, and so we rarely gets something that breaks from the norm and doesn't fill in the checklist I assume all major filmmakers and television have. It's why we have cliches, and while that's not necessarily a bad thing, we do need some sort of diversity to keep things fresh and interesting. Which is exactly why anime is awesome. Anime does things that other media won't do, or at least won't do enough of, and so I'm going to show my appreciation of that with these top 10 LGBT characters!

As always, I'll be sticking to anime and manga, and the characters must be officially LGBT, so sorry fans but no Naruto or Sasuke here. Lastly, this is a list celebrating these characters so please keep all comments dignified and respectful, okay?

Fairy Tail Chapter 503 Review - The Last Sight I Beheld

Written by Shiggins

I better get a flashback!

Shit has gone down and it looks like it was crazy, but I have to say "looks like" because it's only implied to have been a major destructive event that scared my Dimaria so much she was in tears, and manga has ironically forgotten the age-old rule: Show, don't tell.

Show, don't tell! .......I am very sorry, I couldn't resist that joke.

Digimon Adventure Tri Part 3: Confession Review - You Know Nothing!

Written by Shiggins

Part 1 Review: CLICK HERE

Part 2 Review: CLICK HERE

It's finally here and we've now officially reached the halfway point of the Tri movie series, in which your childhood engage in many conversations, meet new characters and possibly begin the relationships with each other that we've all been shipping since we were like 8. Unfortunately however, "Confession" is by far the weakest of the series so far and is really showing the disadvantage of only releasing a sixth of it's story every few months.

That evil Digimon has boobs by the way. Digimon are "genderless" supposedly, but I've seen Lilithmon and this with boobs. LadyDevimon exists but...!
Note: This review is mostly SPOILER-FREE.

Bleach's New Endings

Written by Shiggins

It's time to get creative!

Since Chapter 686 of Bleach failed to wow fans by not answering so many plotlines or characters, I have decided to take it upon myself to give you them instead. Yes, I am going to take certain characters and tell you what happened to them after the defeat of Yhwach. From Urahara to Grimmjow to Candice to Kira, I am taking this responsibility for you all. You're welcome. And if you want to contribute, please do so in the comments below!

It's going to get weird!

Fairy Tail Chapter 502 Review - Mavis and Zera

Written by Shiggins

Hooray for reunions!

As Great Granny Shigs used to say, reunions are best done naked. It's a life lesson I've taken to heart, especially when I met my old high-school friends, and I just wish Levy had thought about herself. On the bright side, Zera followed this advice and so we got a more pleasant chapter that feels like the calm before the storm... well, another calm before another storm.

I can't believe it's taken me so long to say this but... that is one weird-ass hat.

My Hero Academia Chapter 107: What Kaminari Denki is Thinking Review

Written by: The Inquisitor

Dammit, MangaStream. Thanks for doubling my workload.

We start with Bakugou, who has just finished blowing up Captain Crunch's flying fingers with his new attack, "AP Shot: Auto Cannon". Captain Crunch absorbs the remains of his fingers and makes new ones. CC starts rambling about dignity and Bakugou charges at him to shut him up. At the same time, Kaminari uses his snazzy new watch to fire something at CC, and misses. Bakugou yells at CC for ignoring him, and then gets fingered from behind.
That is the most terrifying game of "Guess Who" I've ever seen

My Hero Academia Chapter 106: Class I-A Review

Written by: The Inquisitor

Quick recap of the two chapters I missed: The U.A. students were separated and the seemingly sophisticated Shiketsu is actually full of freaks.

The chapter starts with Todoroki who has already passed the exam. After he arrives at the winners waiting room, he finds Inasa engaged in conversation with another winner. Strangely, he has never met Inasa before, even though they should have met during the U.A. entrance exam. Inasa notices Todoroki and he is not happy to see him.
Oooh, Pretty.

Fairy Tail Chapter 501 Review - Mari and Randi

Written by Shiggins

Well, that title is a bit misleading.

I mean, yes, it featured both characters in this chapter and they do interact at the end, but something like "Brandish vs Lucy: Non-Naked Edition" might have worked out a bit better since that was the more major focus. So if you were hoping for some sort of explanation as to why Dimaria is so coo-coo for Brandish's coco puffs, maybe you need to wait until next week.

I think she's been reading the comment section, and has come to the same conclusion I have: Natsu must be removed for Fairy Tail's greatness to strive!

Fairy Tail Chapter 500 Review - Fire and Ice

Written by Shiggins

500 down! 500 more to go!

Yes, Fairy Tail has officially made it to 500 chapters thanks to Hiro Mashima-senpai and his wonderful assistants who must be working as hard as they can. I would also like to thank myself for being such a major member of the Fairy Tail community that has clearly been a huge reason Fairy Tail has come so far. So... you're welcome, fandom!

An unexpected setting, to say the least.

Opinions on Bleach Ending Compilation Part 3

Written by: The Inquisitor

Ready to hear the same opinion (For the most part, anyway) for the third time?

Like Shiggins, I'll just go over the more important stuff since Pomelote covered the rest.

As expected, the Bleach ending was full of disappointments and unsolved mysteries. And the thing that disappointed me the most is the fact that if Chapter 686 wasn't the final chapter, I would have considered it to be a semi-decent chapter. The first half of the chapter was rather enjoyable, it was nice to see the Karakura gang and some nostalgic Ichigo-Rukia bantering. Unfortunately, things went down hill from there...

Why do I feel the sudden urge to ship these two?

Fairy Tail Chapter 499 Review - Gray and Juvia

Written by Shiggins

Oooh, that's a lot of blood.

Speaking of hurt, it's time for another feel-fest as Invel's horrible plan that he thought of 3 minutes ago is coming to fruition. Man, he's a real smarty pants when you think about it... Anyway, it's time for Gray vs Juvia! It's time for a Death Battleeeee!

Well, more like a One Minute Melee but still... fight!

Opinions on Bleach Ending Compilation Part 2

Written by Shiggins

I bet that Naruto ending is looking pretty good right now, huh?

Seriously, the people who thought Naruto's ending was "the worst ever" clearly have never read another manga in their life. From Gantz to Negima, manga have suffered with it's endings and today, we're here to talk about yet another victim in the line of pain that is... endings! Thanks to Pomelote already doing a summary, I'm just going to skip right ahead to the pros and cons of this final chapter of Bleach.

For Pomelote's thoughts on this ending, click here.

None of us can deny that the art of Bleach got fantastic by the end of it though. Much better than weird frog-frown here.

Opinions on Bleach Ending Compilation Part 1

Written by: Pomelote

Aw, that's cute, the striped bands are the pattern that used to be on the tankoubon volumes.

And now, at last, the trainwreck comes to a halt. On top of a children's hospital. Leaking its radioactive cargo into the environment around it, rendering it uninhabitable for decades to come.

Fairy Tail Chapters 497 & 498 Review - The Winter Mage & Gray vs Invel

Written by Shiggins

It didn't end after one chapter!

This chapter ended in a way with huge potential, but we also know that the next chapter could be heavily disappointing if history repeats itself by bringing in an asspull, like it did with Silver and many other villains. We're all praying for this to go well, but for now we must wait and... oh hey, Mavis is being tortured!

*uncomfortable cough* Uh....

My Hero Academia Chapter 103: The Exam Review

Written by: The Inquisitor

First, quick recap of the last chapter: All Might is going through a crisis, Uraraka is in love with Midoriya, and they meet there greatest competition for the exam, Shiketsu High. One of the Shiketsu students is a weird guy named Inasa, he is apparently stronger than Todoroki.

Alright, back to the review. As the students talk about Inasa, Aizawa is greeted by an old "friend", a pro hero named Ms. Joke, they crossed paths a lot before they both became teachers. Her quirk makes people laugh. Ironically, her jokes do not. This chick is a little annoying.
Is that her tongue? Or spit? Seriously, what the hell is that?

Nisekoi - Why It's Not Perfect

Written by Shiggins

It's time for another edition of WINP and this one goes to the recently finished romcom manga Nisekoi. For those who don't know, the WINP article is when I take a look back on a series and say what were the biggest flaws of a series that I enjoyed greatly, and you all call me an idiot for daring to speak against it. So I'm going to talk about Nisekoi, and you're going to call me a jackass. Ready? Let's go.

Spoiler Alert: There are spoilers.

....Onodera, what are you doing with your hands?

Opinions on Nisekoi Ending Compilation Part 1

Written by Shiggins

Yeah, we're men who read Nisekoi. So?

This week, Naoshi Komi's romcom manga Nisekoi finally ended after it's 229 chapter run that began November 2011. (There's also a few spinoff chapters and a light novel or two, but we're not counting them). So just like we did with Naruto, all the writers of Otaku Nuts that actually read Nisekoi are giving their opinions in articles. Now, let's talk about love!

Ending after 229 chapters... Such an odd and unpleasant number to end on.

Fairy Tail Chapter 496 Review - Forward!

Written by Shiggins

Oh for fuck's sake!

I mean... I was really liking this chapter up until that moment! And now I just... you just... just... you finally give me what I want but you ruin it! I am so damn entitled and wah! So unfair! On the bright side, the rest of this chapter was actually a lot of fun but that one problem has put such a sour taste in my mouth...

Man, Gildarts really loves headbutting people, huh?

My Hero Academia Chapter 101: The Girl Named Hatsume Mei Review

Written by: The Inquisitor

While Midoriya is still recovering from the rack attack, the gang reintroduce themselves to Hatsume. She could not care less, she has some babies to work on. That is, until Midoriya mentions costume upgrades. Now she's as excited as a fat kid in a pastry shop. Next, Power Loader appears. After he yells at Hatsume for messing up again, he takes the gang inside. The fun is about to begin.

The faces she makes are definitely the best part of this chapter

Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash Anime Review

Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash Anime Review
Written by: ClayDragon

Winter 2016 was a rather strange season for anime. On one hand, we had KonoSuba, a series about a guy who gets transported into a fantasy world and forms a party, only for them to not be very good at the whole adventuring thing. On the other hand, we had Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash, a series about a guy who gets transported into a fantasy world and forms a party, only for them to not be very good at the whole adventuring thing. But here’s what’s interesting – they both came out at the same time, and their descriptions at the start of the series are identical, but they couldn’t be more different.

WARNING: Due to the nature of this series, it would be pretty much impossible to talk about the main themes and story beats without spoiling anything. Therefore, THERE WILL BE A COUPLE OF SPOILERS. I don’t like spoiling things in reviews, so I’ll try to keep such things to a minimum, but I make no promises.

Biggest 'Sausages' of Fairy Tail (As Voted by Fans)

Written by Shiggins

Well, we all knew this one was coming.

The fans asked for it, and so here we are. After the weird "Stone Age" chapter, the question of "sausage sizes" came up and I made a joke that I should do a poll about one... and then I was requested to actually do it, and here we are. You all voted in it, and here is my article about it. I don't know what else to say... let's just get this one over with so we can move on...

I can't look my family in the eye after writing this list...

Fairy Tail Chapter 495 Review - I'm Hungry as Hell

Written by Shiggins

FINALLY HE SHOWS!

As the group look down on the opposing army, I ask myself this important question: Why are they even blinking at this? We've seen them fight massive armies before, and those were easy! Am I the only one who remembers the Avatar arc, which sadly did not have Toph in it?! AM I?! At any rate, they see army and they're like "oh no, so scared, wah".

HAPPY 10TH ANNIVERSARY TO FAIRY TAIL! (I like to think I helped this series get to where it is today.)

Danganronpa Anime Review

Danganronpa Anime Review
Written by: ClayDragon

If you’re a regular reader of our articles and Top 10 lists, then you’re probably aware that Shiggins is a large fan of the Danganronpa video game series (if you didn’t know this, you do now). And for a long time now, he has been getting on at me to get into the series. However, since I’m not one of the handful of people who own a PSVita, nor am I a member of the glorious PC gaming master race, the only way for me to experience Danganronpa is to watch the anime version. And since he formally requested that I review it, I was left with no choice.

KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on this Wonderful World! Anime Review

KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on this Wonderful World! Anime Review
Written by: ClayDragon

The whole ‘trapped in fantasy land’ genre has exploded in popularity in recent years, thanks in no small part to the hype surrounding Sword Art Online. Even so, I never particularly cared for these types of stories (again, thanks in no small part to the hype surrounding Sword Art Online). However, I had nothing better to do these past few days, so I decided to test the waters with KonoSuba, a ten-episode long anime about – you guessed it – a boy who gets transported to another world.

Fairy Tail Chapter 494 Review - The Hill Extending Towards Tomorrow

Written by Shiggins

Now THIS feels like war!

Back to the best staring contest of my life, with sexual tension so thick you would need a chainsaw to cut through it, Zeref and Mavis haven't seemed to have moved from their spot since we last saw them. Now that's devotion, but this intensity manages to keep up throughout the entire chapter and I love it!

Go on! Kiss him, you fool!

What Makes Anime Women Strong?

Written by Shiggins

I am geek. Read me rant.

I want a Black Widow movie. I want more of Furiosa and Xena and Ellen Ripley and I want so many other strong women characters to exist in the world of fiction. Luckily, anime provides me with so goddamn many, that I'm spoiled for choice. Revy from Black Lagoon, Usagi from Sailor Moon, Kurisu from Steins;Gate, Erza from Fairy Tail... The list goes on. However, anime and movies have often gone the other route and given us female characters that audiences despise for being "weak" or "useless". So, if you're looking to write a female character, how can you make them a strong character for audiences to enjoy? Well, find out here!

Well, I suppose one easy way to do that is to make your female an f-ing gorgeous genius in stockings... but there are other ways!
