Fairy Tail 100 Year Quest Chapters 49 and 50 Review - The Last Orb and The Wood Dragon God's Secret

Well... she ain't no Fire-God-Senku.

It's crazy to realise this, but this arc on top of a giant wooden dragon is still going! And I've enjoyed it for the majority of it's time on this grey Earth, but it's certainly been a long one. We've fought Fairy Tail members, dragon eaters, witches possessing Exceeds and we've still got more to go! I might be the only person in the world to say this, but I hope we get some good downtime filler after this arc ends because the pace is crazy today!

Oh please don't lead into a Zou arc...

We begin with Natsu and Happy catching up with Wendy, who appears to be talking to herself, but is actually talking to Irene. She tells Natsu about the separation enchantment, and the trio go to find and take down WW/Touka! Back to Lucy's group, Gray has just managed to take down a heavily-weakened Mirajane and Elfman, and the other characters have been taken too. I guess the story knew there was no point showing us win after win after win against people who are already beaten up, and I can't say I disagree.

Wendy and co go save Carla first and, in an unusual reveal, Carla says that Touka definitely isn't one of the Exceed from Edolas because the queen of Edolas (yeah, remember her?) has a list of both those who were sent to Earthland like Happy and Carla, and those who came from Edolas to Earthland during the arc. However, the theorising is cut short before it can properly begin, as another orb is destroyed by a possessed Mest! Mest immediately teleports to WW, who is still suffering from the time she touched the orb, and he destroys it by her command.

I feel like Mest could have done this a long time ago. Also, why do you fuck EVERYTHING up, Mest?!

Our second chapter has lots of destruction and carnage as the Wood God Dragon roars, towns collapsing and the people... well, it turns out the people aren't human. They are lives created by Aldoron, seeds that grew on his back to heal him whenever it was needed, and WW has made a mistake by trying to defeat Aldoron by removing the orbs. Aldoron is now going to unleash his full power!

With a mighty roar, Aldoron's head rises higher. Juvia suddenly realises her magic is restored, and everyone who was possessed by WW's magic is now back to normal, including Laxus and Jellal. (*sniff*. Goodnight, sweet prince... I'll never forget you, Better Jellal). The Natsu gang make it to WW, who is shocked to see what has happened to Aldoron, and Mest is now freed and realising what he's done. Mest teleports away to help the others, while Touka rages as she realises she had been tricked... by the Moon Dragon God, Selene!

Opinion: Hmph. Ignia is still hotter.

So that's us seen 3 of the 5 human forms of these Dragon Gods. We had Mercuphobia, the stoic type. We had Ignia, the bad boy type. We now have Selene, the seductive type. That leaves us with Aldoron and Viernes, the Gold Dragon God. I'm hoping Aldoron is the "gentle giant" type, and  Viernes is the over-the-top type. We need a full dating sim roster going on, guys! And while her hood is a bit ridiculous, I must admit I like the design of Selene very much. Japanese-inspired but with an elegant fur lining for added effect? That's class.

I can't be bothered imagining what they're looking at so... you do it for me.

It's very obvious what the implication for Selene's motivation is, so we'll just briefly bring it up here. She believes the moon is superior, that her magic is the best, and the wood, fire, gold and water elements are all inferior so should be made subservient to her. Nice, clean and simple to understand. Unless it turns out she has a Black Zetsu waiting in the wings considering the last major manga villain involving the moon...

The mystery of Touka grows more and more, as we are now told she's not even able to be an Exceed from either event of Exceed coming to Earthland. So... who is she then? Are we about to learn that time travel has played a part in Fairy Tail again? Was Touka born human? Is there another-another dimension to explore? Is she from Eden's Zero?! (Speaking of which, holy shit Eden's Zero!)

Wait, quiet? Shouldn't you be... drowning?!

So what's next? Well, I think it's time we finally take down WW, and maybe even Aldoron will join in the fight to stop WW from killing Touka or the other Fairy Tail members. Honestly, I'm just picturing Aldoron's human form looking like the teacher from Science Fell in Love so I Tried to Prove It...

Now, go. Please. And let me have a moment of silence for the Jellal I'll never see again...
