Fairy Tail 100 Year Quest Chapter 45 Review - Red Conclusion

Written by Shiggins

A non-Star Wars review?!

Yes, in a shocking twist, I'm releasing a Fairy Tail review in December! Despite there being a Star Wars film that everyone is talking about (and a Cats film that everyone is laughing about), I'm talking about a completely different story for now! Yes, Star Wars will come later this week, but for now let's just enjoy a fitting finale to the battle between two of the franchise's best heroes, not to mention two of the hottest rawr.

Superman vs Doomsday - Manga edition. Next up, Netflix!
Our chapter begins with the brutality of Erza and Laxus beating the shit out of each other with nothing but their bare fists now that they've nearly exhausted their magic, often my favourite part of battles actually, while Kyria watches in awe. Some last attacks of red lightning and swords are thrown, and the battle is finished as Erza collapses to her knees.

Do you think her opponents ever get tired of seeing her naked? Or is the transformation so fast they can't see it?
With a small laugh, Erza says that the power Laxus has displayed reassures her that no matter where she goes or what she does, Fairy Tail will have someone strong enough to protect it. Vowing to win next time, Erza faints. Laxus smiles, feeling like he hasn't won either, and collapses as well. Kyria gains victory by destroying the orb they fought over, weakening the Wood Dragon God.

As the ground shakes beneath them all, Touka worries that the White Wizard will soon be able to absorb the dragon if the last two orbs are destroyed. The conversation is cut short when Touka hears the White Wizard's voice, and she tearfully says goodbye before turning back into a human, with the other personality now in control, ready to kill Natsu.

Opinion: Erza fell first so... technically, Laxus won?

So will our next chapter involve Natsu fighting off against The White Wizard? Probably not. In fact, 90% of female villains only battle against female heroes, so place your bets on who is actually going to fight her! Safe bet is on Lucy, obviously, but there's always Cana, Juvia, and many others to place a wager on.

...No, she's not. You dick.
Of course, this is most likely not our climactic battle of the arc. After all, I'm convinced that Aldoron, the Wood Dragon God, is going to play some role in it, whether it be a badass ally or a formidable foe. Hopefully the former, since Mercuphobia already fought them and we don't need two overly-long fights against a dragon in a row. Besides, I want to see if Aldoron is a pretty boy too.

Erza and Laxus have brought their fight to a close, and I'll admit it was probably one of my favourites of the arc. Not because of the content, but the ending was a nice surprise, bringing out their character and another nice reminder of how far Laxus has come over the years. Honestly, I'd have probably been happy if this fight lasted longer, but I say that after almost every Fairy Tail battle (not including Mercuphobia) so it feels redundant to bring that up now.

And now... is Kyria going to eat Laxus? If so, I'd almost want to see that.

Manga Rating: 4/5

Best Part: Erza loses with grace.

Worst Part: Very little else actually happened.

Oh look, another Fairy Tail spinoff we'll sadly never get to see.
